Confessing Faith in Jesus Christ Since 1889
It's more than a catchy theme for our web site. When we confess our faith, we declare our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. As Mary did in the Magnificat, we confess “the greatness of the Lord” Luke 1:46. Our patron, St. John Nepomuk, declared his faith with his adherence to the seal of confession. And St. Paul's letter to the Hebrews urges us to “hold fast to our confession” so that we may “confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.” Hebrews 4:14-16
Here at St. John Nepomuk, we know that a true disciple of Christ has to do more than keep the faith. We must also profess it, confidently bear witness to it, and spread it. We confess our faith in our words and in our actions. In our education programs, our fellowship within our parish, and our service to our community, we rely on the gifts we receive in the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. Those gifts give us the “special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross.” CCC 1303
