Outreach and Social Ministry

If you are interested in becoming involved, or if you can use the assistance of any of the following ministries, please contact the parish office.

St. Vincent de Paul Society - The Society of St. Vincent dePaul was founded in Paris in 1833 by Fredrick Ozanam.  He was only 20 at the time.  He and some other Catholic students wanted to show that not only Catholic clergy but also the Catholic lay people would aid those in need.  They chose to name the society after St. Vincent dePaul, who was well known for his devotion to helping the poor and hungry.  This ministry provides financial assistance with things like rent and utilities to those in need.

Stephen Ministry - Lay people provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

Cradle Club - The Cradle Club is an outreach ministry created to support the growing families of our parish.  We prepare and deliver nutritious, home-cooked meals to help parents of newborns ease the first few days at home after a baby's birth.

Yukon Mobile Meals - Volunteers help prepare and deliver food to homebound individuals in our community.

Manna Pantry Sundays - Manna Pantry is a Yukon community organization that helps provide non-perishable food items for those in need.  On the first weekend of each month, St. John parishioners are asked to bring a specific type of item to Mass to donate to Manna Pantry.  The items for the upcoming month are listed in the bulletin.  Manna Pantry also needs volunteers to help with distribution of the items at their downtown Yukon location.

Compassionate Hands - This community organization offers assistance, fosters hope, lends emotional support and ultimately helps clients become self-sufficient through Manna Pantry and Yukon Sharing.
